Comment Re:All vinyl produced in last 30 years were digita (Score 1) 142

"vinyl format softens the sound a lot" That is the sound-level compression level here, and it just results in a quieter rendition on some of the tracks. That can be done on CD or digital format if they wanted, but most people don't want that because most consumer equipment can't handle it. I have heard some classical symphony CDs that aren't compressed at all and it's annoying as hell because the quiet pianissimo sections are so faint that you have to max out a powerful amplifier on a large speaker to barely hear it from 6 feet away. On most equipment it becomes inaudible. I once had to edit one of these CDs as a track for a ballet and I had to amplify and compress the music between 15 to 30 dB. I agree that CD music is generally overcompressed and they went too far to the other extreme at times. But I think realistically, music needs a lot of compression for most consumer playback equipment.

Comment All vinyl produced in last 30 years were digital (Score 2) 142

What's funny is that virtually all vinyl records produced in the last 30 years were processed digitally because they don't want to wear out the masters. There's nothing wrong with that of course, but one of the arguments for vinyl is that it's analog and doesn't have the supposed stairstep artifacts of digital music. The stairstep representation of course is bogus and digital recordings are discrete sample points that are converted back into near-perfect analog waves that are vastly better than any analog copy or analog recording.

Netflix is specifically blocking (explicitly opting out) the Netflix iOS app on the Vision Pro. A lot of companies are in a fight with Apple over the 30% app store tax, which is ultimately passed onto consumers. All these Apps being blocked have browser alternatives that work just fine. You'll be able to fire up the Safari browser in the Vision Pro and use Netflix as if you were on a Macbook.

The full-throttle test on speedtest.net I did from my desktop with gigabit connection was able to get over 475 Mbps downstream. That pushed the 99th percentile ping jitter from 8ms to 55ms. When I ran speedtest.net from my WiFi laptop, WiFi constrained me to 273 Mbps because I only had 40 MHz of bandwidth. But NetCheck only reported a small bump up to 11ms 99th percentile jitter. So because my WiFi PHY rate was capped, it prevented jitter. If I were to do a large web download from my desktop and used software to cap the speed to 273, I still get jitter because software throttle will allow the bandwidth to cycle between 475 Mbps and 50 Mbps.

I tried NetCheck again on my Comcast connection now that Comcast has made some changes to their DOCSIS protocol. I wasn't sure if it would work for me or not because I'm using my own modem and not Comcast, but it looks like a solid improvement. My video demo showing speedtest.net was showing around 105 ms ping for 95th percentile jitter. My new upstream 95th percentile is 61ms and 99th percentile is 64ms which seems to be like before, but my downstream 95th and 99th percentile is 55ms which is much better than before. So it looks like Comcast really improved the downstream jitter because their equipment reduced the buffer bloat. Since my modem is not updated, the upstream jitter seems to not have changed.

Unsurprisingly, the second infection was milder. Having insufficient antibodies means you can get infected, but your T Cells will mount a vigorous defense and you don't get sick the second time. Another big plus is that your antibody levels ramp up much sooner and much stronger than the first which means it acts like a booster shot. Here's a nice illustration of antibodies when reinfected. https://www.clinisciences.com/...
