So, after a few centuries, instead of degrading, the data itself will evolve. "hello" will become "hi".
I have 3 Chrome windows: 78, 15 and 10 tabs. (I'm not going to mention my FF window.)
"Hello, my name is Chris, and I'm a tab-hoarder."
Well...I was born in Helsinki, and spoke Finnish before I learned English, so maybe I some how picked it up that way
Thanks!
In English-speaking countries, it is mostly used just as a greeting and no serious answer is expected to it.
Though that may be true today, I believe in the past, it was simply a way to elicit from people whether or not they were sick...so you'd know to stay away from them.
There's a reason "we" have Welcome mats. It meant, only come in if you're well (not sick.)
There's a reason we say and do the things we do...generally we have to look to the past to understand them, as their reason for being useful then, may not serve a function today.
they've now had days to destroy/remove data from the premises. Reportedly, employees have been seen carrying boxes out of their London Headquarters after a judge was reluctant to issue a warrant immediately. Anything gathered from that location at least will likely be worthless. Smacks of a major cover-up/ass covering.
Time for Wikileaks to get their feed on.
I have both Echo and Google Home. Though, because of the cost, I have Echo Dots in every room, and just an Echo and one Google Home in the living room.
I have many Smart Home devices, mostly Z-Wave and Zigbee (SmartThings controller, Philips Hue bulbs/light strips, Harmony hub & Kodi). By far the Echo's have worked better at controlling my smart home, but Google Home is (very very) slowly catching up, and does have a "few" features that make it better in general, but the price (per room) means it's not enough of an edge to switch out the Echo Dots. Google Home generally wins hands-down with a voice search, Alexa relies on Bing, so it's got both cables tied behind it's back.
The Amazon Echo still has a way to go on music control, unit grouping, and some other functionality, but it's been leading the pack since it's introduction, and nothing is close to it as yet. Hopefully, Amazon and Google will get over their spat, so that I can get Google Search instead of Bing.
On the assumption that the aesthetic is an exterior rather than interior concern....they could add some sort of projection onto the glass, so that people on the inside would recognize it (out of the corner of their eye I suppose) just before they walk into it. Rather than the projection being on all the time, it could be triggered by motion/heat or something.
This suggestion is slightly more tongue-in-cheek, than head-up-ass...but only slightly.
I volunteer at a local food pantry that also makes donated clothes available to its clients. I generally only volunteer once a week, but I see a lot of people lining up to get clothing...whether it's for themselves or someone else.
Maybe other countries don't need/want our used clothing as much, but there's still a demand/need in the USA at least.
