Technically, LaTeX isn't a word processor, either. It's a type setting program. That said, I use the LyX front end and do most of my document production in it and output to .pdf. When I need word compatibility, I use generally use LibreOffice. I do miss WordPerfect, but not enough to run Windows to get it.

The lockdown has actually fueled tech innovation and adoption that makes it easier to stay connected from home. I've suspected since early last summer that the roll out of new tools and their mainstream acceptance would actually help many people who already felt isolated before COVID rejoin communities. I think many people who aren't comfortable in face-to-face situations are much more likely to be sociable when they can do so online, and there are a whole lot more people with whom they can now interact.

It already is presented at 4:3. Snyder wanted to preserve the IMAX aspect ratio.

On the whole, I thought it would have made a better mini-series, not because I don't like longer movies, but because it seemed to be paced as though it were building toward several intermediate mini-climaxes. It felt more like binge-watching than movie watching.

It was definitely a more coherent story than the Whedon version and one that served the characters better.

Grayscale seems gimmicky, but I can see where it could have been part of the original vision that Snyder couldn't get past the studio until he had received strong backing from the fans (as he has gotten over the last few years.) It seems unnecessarily "Lucas-y" to keep futzing with a film once he's had the opportunity to restore it to his original vision, but if he feels it's an important artistic statement, he's welcome to make it. I doubt I'll watch it, though.

I don't expect Trump to have the physical strength, let alone cognitive function to run in 2024. I'd give him 50% of even being above ground.

That said, I'm perfectly happy to let him suck all of the air out of the Republican party until them. He'll be a spoiler for the Republicans who've been waiting for their shot. I suspect Nikki Haley will be particularly impacted, as I suspect 2024 was seen as "her year" by a lot of Republicans who would love to put a woman into the Presidency ahead of the Democrats. They won't actually pass any legislation that would benefit women, but they'd like nothing more than to be able to claim that they were the true female-friendly party. (They would appreciate it very much if you would ignore the fact that they put a man in office who has been charged with sexual assault 20+ times with victims as young as 13, and who bragged about being able to grab women inappropriately without consequences because of his fame.)

I suspect a lot of the problem is that home workers lack the incremental feedback to which they are accustomed. Jobs are broken up into larger chunks between feedback sessions, which makes it seem like fewer things are done each day. Those annoying "over-the-shoulder" check-ins throughout the day serve a purpose that can be positive for certain personality types that thrive in a high-touch environment.

Having worked to develop several Ag Tech lidar products over the last decade, I can assure you that this is not "new" technology. The price keeps coming down, and the quality keeps going up, but the technology has been out there for decades. It's the heart of many of the collision detection systems in new cars, so you may actually already own a lidar sensor without being aware of it.

I haven't seen a video rental store in some time, though. Just Redbox with their few dozen titles at most of the grocery stores around here. I'm sure there still are video rental stores somewhere, but most of the small ones were bought out by the big chains, and then the big chains closed most of their stores when Netflix and Amazon prime became popular. The "long tail" is gone in many areas. It's almost impossible to find DVD's to rent that are more than a year old. Amazon offers some older titles, but charge two to three times what the local stores used to. Sure, you can watch a movie in minutes, but your microwave popcorn doesn't show up for two days.
