Comment A warrant was not required. (Score 1) 146

I was thinking the same as, but I RFAd and read the case. Under Rodriguez v. United States, 575 U.S. 348 (2015), the Court ruled that a search warrant was required. However, he was a parolee, and as a part of his parole, he was subject to warrantless searches. His condition of parole included :

"You shall surrender any digital/electronic device and provide a pass key/code to unlock the device to any law enforcement officer for inspection other than what is visible on the display screen.

This includes any digital/electronic device in your vicinity. Failure to comply can result in your arrest pending further investigation and/or confiscation of any device pending investigation.

It depends on the Z80 card. I used the Applicard Z80B in my Apple ][+ clone. When booting, it would download the BIOS and BDOS into the 6502 and run that portion. It also used the 6502 memory as a print buffer. I had an additional 128k as a ramdisk.

Google Maps knew it was south of the Masonâ"Dixon line. Since it was, it knew about the historical documents of the Dukes of Hazzard. Therefore, the AI determined that a bridge being out didn't bother a Southerner as a good Southerner would just jump the car as detailed in the historical documents.

The AI didn't realize that all Southerners were not same.

Comment This will kill affiliate marketing (Score 2) 54

Many affiliate marketing systems use this, not just spam. There was one porn spammer that I deposed that the affiliate link would be http://www.site.name/affiliate....

The site id would be the particular web site of the affiliate program. The program id would be which type payment preference, ie. pay per click, per signup, or revenue share.

They would then convert this value into a "session id" which is stored in a temporary table.

By removing this 'tracking' information affiliates (sometimes it's not always spam, thinking maybe maybe Rakuten) will not be paid for referrals.

I knew one of those talented women. I tutored her in Fortran when I was a junior in high school and she was a junior at Northeastern University (doble major chemistry and electrical engineering) . She got out of software when she made enough money to retire on by writing perl programs to optimize microcode.

Oh my God. You are using four letter words! Use M-A-T-H., get your mouth washed out with soap.

Seriously, what is a professional coder? Is that a coder who gets paid as opposed to an unprofessional code who does not get paid? Or are we talking about coders who got a computer related degree? Does a bootcamp count? What about self-taught? Wozniak and Gates were self-taught.

Instead of a coder, we need to use engineers. But, since the advent of PCs I think the lines between coder, programmer, and engineer have been blurred. In the old days, in the days of punch cards and plastic flow chart templates there was a distinction. Now, you a programming editor will spit out code templates, or you can ask a AI prompt to generate code of questionable quality.

I think everyone should know the basics of coding and how computers work, not to work at it, but understand it. The problem though is, we will have less tech support stories that starts and end with "Is it plugged in?" Just like everyone who drives a car should know basic things, like how to change a tire, air-filter, add air to a tire, etc. Of course, this will eliminated jobs from the fraudulently named Geek Squad.
