Comment We know what's in store for this brave patient (Score 2) 46

It's sad but the patient that received a genetically modified pig heart only lived for two months. The kidney is a vital organ. I really don't think he will survive longer than two months. If rejection doesn't kill him then maybe he can go on dialysis again. I hope they are successful this time. This patient certainly is brave.

Comment This is why I am keeping my 2016 Wrangler! (Score 1) 229

My 2016 Wrangler does not have connected "Tech'. I plan on keeping it that way. I've got the Alpine sound system and my music streams from an old iPod Touch. If I get an additional vehicle it will be something that's not connected. I disconnected my wife's 2022 Nissan Kicks Sr. Nissan Infotainment systems contain the telemetrics. I took a razor and cut the etch between the antenna and the data modem. Radio and Sirius XM still work fine. No Telemetrics. I did this because initially I canceled Nissan Connect the first week I bought the car for the Mrs. and when we took the vehicle in for it's initial Nissan inspection, telemetrics worked and no need for a ODBII cable. After that I resorted to cutting an etch. The vehicle is no longer capable of sending telemetrics and I was contacted by Nissan and asked to bring the car in to update the electronics, something is wrong. I replied that I disabled the telemetrics and do not want it enabled. So far it's been a few years, no problem.

Comment I own a Toshiba FireTV. Never will I buy one again (Score 1) 64

I really don't like adds popping up in my face. Prime Video disabled DTS Surround Sound.. it's now a pay for premium feature. So I dropped Prime. Now I will only buy standard TVs with 3 HDMI ports. No more smart tvs. Pieces of crap. YouTube sends way too many adds and PiHole does not work with FireTV. I even forced the TV to use my PiHole for DNS. Nope. It only worked for the first year I owned the TV. Ater an OS update.. bang.. Pihole no longer blocks ads. Bought it during a black Friday sale. It may be a 48" flat panel but it's Amazon made it a piece of crap! TV boots with ads in the face. Older firmware let you set the TV to default to a port so I had it default to the cable box. Not any more. It defaults to the Main Home page with the bif ads in your face. I'm tempted to just rub my feet on the rug, build up a static charge and touch the TV ... I want it to blow up. I'm so done with it. Smart TVs suck

Terrestrial guidance has been around for a long time. Our high end weapons do not depend on GPS. They use a combination of inertial and terrestrial guidance systems. What is posted here is a 2D terrestrial map guidance system. Some Cruise Missiles use 3D terrestrial guidance systems which use a combination of radar and optical sensors and when "blinded" fall back on inertial guidance. I don't know how they pulled this off with a sub $500.00 drone. You would need multiple computers. First the flight controller, preferably a Pixhawk. For map guidance I would use a NVidia Nano. It's still going to consume power. The airframe that will have enough lift to carry a large enough battery, the Nvidia Nano, Pixhawk, and servos would cost more than $500.00 to build, even if you are 3D printing it. Here's the airframe I am going to use on my next Pixhawk build: https://www.legendhobby.com/pr... It can carry two 5000ma 6s batteries.. enough for a 45 minute flight time. I am planning on 3d printing a camera dome. The team that pulled this off would need multiple maps of the same area projected for multiple elevations. The terrestrial navigation program would use the map that is closest to the elevation the aircraft is at. The Nvidia would need to make trace images of each camera shot in realtime. Whatever computer that will be selected is going to consume a lot of power. I do not believe they pulled this off with a budget under $500.00 I used google maps to my r/c setup. I was able toget the GPS location of my r/c aircraft and display the location of my airplane on the display of my radio. similar to this: https://github.com/Tonnie78/Lu...

The Diabetes industry is so corrupt. I have type 2. I can better manage my glucose with intermittent fasting rather than taking Metformin and Glyburide every day. CGM sensors are expensive, even with insurance. I pay $79.00 for a 2 sensors that would last me 28 days. And that is with insurance. I tried a Chinese glucose watch and I calibrated it to a test with a test strip. The problem with the Chinese watch is it does not stay calibrated. If the glucose stays within a range of +-60mg/dl it's ok. If the you wake up at 200mg/dl, calibrate it for that.. If you spike to 260mg/dl or drop to 140mg/dl it will be off and you will need to recalibrate. I think if there was an OpenSource blood glucose monitoring watch I would be able to get it working. The FDA thinks end users are dumb. If I buy a glucose watch I would wear my CGM and test with blood strips for a month to be sure the watch is at least 10% within the reading from the CGM and blood strip test. The holy grail is an optical blood glucose sensor. Companies like Abbot are threatened since no one would need to purchase the overpriced Libre CGM . I may do intermittent fasting but I do monitor my glucose every day. 150mg/dl on no meds is way better than 100mg/dl on meds.

I canceled my Prime Account. No more. I did buy a lot of stuff from Amazon. I am into r/c so it was quick and easy to buy my receivers and batteries from Amazon. Not anymore. I am done with them. The movies on Amazon Prime mostly stink anyway. There's no more new "The Expanse" episodes being made. Who knows what's going on with the Tom Clancy "Jack Ryan" series. I am done with Amazon. Either they will realize what they are doing is pissing off customers or their business will erode and the company would shrink to a fraction of what it once was.

Comment Re:It's really due to the increased volcanic activ (Score 1) 121

I wouldn't just make this up and post this. All the scientists on the greenhouse gas bandwagon are wrong. Our Sun and the tilt of the Earth are driving climate change. You should read and learn what's released into the atmosphere when a volcano erupts. Our Earth wouldn't be what it is if there was no volcanic activity. We need to adapt. The Scientists that declare what is the cause of climatic change is are really not qualified to do so. A climatologist needs to be more than a meteorologist. They need a degree in astrophysics and take the educational path to become a cosmologist as well. This is required so the climatologist can have a broader perception of what's really going on. The current scientists blaming greenhouse gas and Man's carbon footprint have a very narrow perception of what's going on. To truly understand climate change you need a broader focus.

hmm... Volcanic activity peaks during every Solar Max cycle! This is something I observed as a teen, I even wrote a paper on it back when I was a kid in my AP 101 Astronomy class. Next thing you know someone wrote a paper in 2003 about it and NASA makes reference to it. Solar Storms influence geological activity and climate. If you dig around and research the historical volcanic eruptions, earthquakes, hurricanes, typhoons.. they all have something in common. They occured during a solar max cycle.
