Submission + - Billy Graham, evangelical preacher dubbed 'America's Pastor', dies aged 99 (abc.net.au)

johnsnails writes: Billy Graham, the magnetic, movie-star-handsome preacher who became a singular force in postwar American religious life and was a confidant of presidents, has died at the age of 99.

Submission + - Court ruling on whether Australian ISPs must hand over customer data (news.com.au)

johnsnails writes: A LANDMARK court ruling is due to be handed down today that will have lasting implications for the ongoing fight against illegal downloading and file sharing.

Dallas Buyers Club LLC has requested that iiNet (and a few other Australian ISPs) divulge the identity of customers whose IP addresses were found to have shared the film Dallas Buyers Club illegally.

The company owns the rights to the movie and identified a total of 4726 IP addresses that engaged in the illegal activity. Federal Court Justice Nye Perram’s verdict is due to be handed down at 2:15pm today.

While iiNet challenged the request, if successful, the suit could result in thousands of Australians being sued for copyright breaches. The watershed case will set a precedent for Australian ISP’s and will have a major impact on the behaviour of pirates.
