It was a very secure system far ahead of Microsoft. The problem was the IBM marketing department and the rush to beat Microsoft to market.
In its day it was the underlying O/S for many ATM networks do to its security and journaling disc system. You could literly remove power and when the system came back up it would continue with the task it was working before power down.
