The meeting will take place next week. According to various reports, the officials will make a number of decisions regulating the use of the Internet in Russia, providing for the ability to cut the Russian Internet, known as Runet, from the outside world, in case of emergency.

  • If you take away the internet, isn't that declaring war against your own citizens?
    • Okay, reading this article explains the situation with more clarity. The pulp press I read before was quite incorrect. Russia should be able to protect it's independence as far as connecting to the internet. However, all this BS about internet being run by Communications corporations, meddling governments, etc leads me to believe there will be an underground internet soon that is beyond control of Governements. A p2p WIFI network of Pringle cans that connect you to a public net.

Hacking's just another word for nothing left to kludge.
