Scan Thing is the fastest way to capture and save everything around you. Scan Thing can be used on iOS, iPad, and macOS. You can scan objects, people, animals and plants. Frame, tap, scan, then save it for later. You can also share it or export it to apps like Instagram. Save books and documents with original images intact and text embedded. Your scan can be saved as a single- or multipage PDF. All text can be searched and selected. Frame a page, a file, a sign, and a receipt. Tap to extract the text. Tap again to copy the text to the clipboard. Send via Airdrop or text. Save to your photo library, or a folder of choice. You can also insert your scan into an Instagram Story. Scan Thing doesn't require an account. Scan Thing doesn't require internet access. Your scans never leave your device. We respect your privacy, not to mention our business. We don't collect any data and we don’t use any third-party codes.

FreeOCR
FreeOCR is an optical character recognition software for Windows that supports scanning from most Twain scanners. It can also open most scanned PDFs and multi-page Tiff files as well as other image file formats. FreeOCR can output plain text and export directly to Microsoft Word format. Free OCR uses the Tesseract (v3.01 OCR engine). It comes with a Windows installer. It supports multi-page tiff, Adobe PDF and fax documents. It can also scan using Twain or WIA scanning drivers.
