Summary: The platform has many limitations that may be difficult to overcome depending on your organizations needs. More importantly from my perspective is the fact that the educational resources from Salsify are so lacking and/or unsatisfactory. I regularly wish that we had committed to a different PIM.
Positive: Salsify has the ability, like any PIM, to store all essential product information in one centralized area. Product specs, copy, and assets are all located in one area and it is easy to generate a report for retailers and distributors to share this information. Salsify is integrated with our e-commerce site as well, which makes updating product info and assets simpler. Theoretically.
Negative: Salsify does not have the ability to store our information in a very intuitive way. We have to rely heavily on parent-variant structures which makes storing product information and assets tricky for users and it makes interpreting shared information more confusing for retailers/distributors/etc.

On top of that, Salsify has not had great support. I participated in a full 8 hour training course, and it was such an insane waste of time. I felt for the person leading the class because he clearly had no idea what he was doing. Many of the pre-recorded videos meant to help onboard users and administrators are simply really LONG recordings of previously held live courses. These videos are very hard to digest and are not a good reference if you are looking to brush up on a particular subject.
My personal interactions with Salsify staff has been limited, but I've only heard bad things from my colleges who work with them. I worked closely with our internal IT team while Salsify was being set up, and we regularly had to compromise on functionality despite the fact that we were told these needed functions would be supported when we were being sold the product.
