Robust but too expensive for most small businesses Date: Jun 17 2020
Summary: We were with another company that was bought by Ring Central about 9 years ago. Besides efax and a couple of others, there were not a lot of fax solutions a decade ago, particularly those with good reputations. We have not been unhappy with Ring Central, but they keep raising their prices and every year we call and complain and they give us a better rate. If we were a big business who sent out lots of faxes it would be one thing, but their current pricing is not very competitive for other HIPAA compliant fax solutions.
Positive: The desktop app is handy, as is the ability to fax through email. The product can be HIPAA compliant (if you use the HIPAA compliance features). Reports/logs are good, but can be hard to search.
Negative: I'd like to see a picture of the "first" page at the bottom of the confirmation email to prove what was sent. When messages fail, it doesn't tell you why. Was the line busy, wrong number, lost connection? There is no way to know. The website is hard to get to. If you try to login to regular RingCentral you end up in the Glip app, you have to login through a different site. The software is constantly updated, but the GUI looks the same (and it's not very appealing)
