For the past 20 yrs as our first line of email defense for our enterprise

    Edited: Jan 31 2021

Summary: SPAM handling options are superb and mailing lists are easy for others to manage without my intervention.

Positive: No doubt it is simple to handle plus a tons of SPAM/Security controlling options. Over it is a good quality email server, providing great features and customer support as we are using for the past 20 yrs.

Negative: Cant integrate with SSO and no appliance based. There is nothin much to dislike about this software. AltN has implemented features over time that are important to our requirements."

    Great product

    Date: Dec 23 2020

Summary: Quick installation, simple configuration and easy to use even for a non technical person. Very powerful features. The content filter feature is very powerful and can help setup complex forwards.

Positive: We started using Mdaemon email in 2007. True to their words, Mdaemon installation was problem-free and flawless. The help desk reached out to us during installation for support. But, we did not need any support as installation was simple and straight forward. It was easy to install, configure and use even for a non technical person.

Negative: Sometimes the system is memory hungry. This can cause the system to slow.

A change from software on our servers to hosted email

    Date: Dec 22 2020

Summary: Overall we love the MDeamon platform, and highly recommend it to our customers over other hosted email services such as GoDaddy. Another added bonus we find after having customers transition to the MDeamon platform is the built in instant messaging features, for the hospitality industry we have found that this makes for quick communication between multiple properties and staff a breeze.

Positive: We started to use MDeamon software on our own server back with version 9 many years ago. Over the years they have made so many improvements to not only the email features, adding docs and file sharing to an entire domain or just one single user. Among other great improvements to the web UI such as layout and ease of use, and also greatly improving the security gateway for spam. Now we have migrated to the hosted platform, same great software, and support without the costly upgrading of new servers, OS versions, and hardware costs.

Negative: In the past, older versions were some what of a pain to migrate to a newer version of the software. But they have made great efforts to make this transition easier for the network admins over the years. The only other feature i would say is lacking is a way for a user to create or download a backup of their entire email account, settings, and files.

    MDaemon

    Date: Dec 22 2020

Summary: We are very impressed with this product and the cost compared to other government/professional e-mail systems

Positive: The password check, complex password option, and robust a/v engines are just a few of the features we love about MDaemon. They line up well with our ongoing security initiatives.

Negative: We were disappointed when the built in encryption for webmail was discontinued.

    MDaemon Email Server

    Date: Nov 12 2020

Summary: It just works. We have used it for over 20 years and had multiple domains and configurations. Much less expensive than Exchange Server.

Positive: We have used MDaemon since the late 1990's and it has worked well for us. Consultants tried to change us to Exchange Server about 5 years ago and it was a disaster. After many months of trying to get it running, we gave up and stuck with MDaemon.

Negative: So many options, that sometimes we forgot that we made a change in one area that affected another. Fortunately their tech support team has been able to help us with these issues.

    10+ years of MDaemon

    Edited: Nov 02 2020

Summary: We had many time the opportunity to switch over a "free" solution but we decide to keep using MDaemon.

Positive: One of the best "windows based" SW ever!

Negative: Mobile client and overall web based client experience.
