LuzardoFax Description

LuzardoFax is a cloud fax platform for organizations that transmit protected health information under HIPAA.

The architecture is deliberately narrow. Documents are converted server-side and flattened to monochrome before transmission, so a colour element that would vanish on the receiving end never leaves the system. Fax content is never sent by email: notifications carry page count, size and time only — never the document, the sender or the recipient. On outbound faxes the document never leaves our servers; the carrier receives a tokenised URL valid for 30 minutes. On inbound faxes the carrier necessarily receives the transmission, and we delete its copy through their API as soon as ours is stored, logging the result. The Zapier integration exposes triggers but no send action — routing PHI through a third-party automation layer was ruled out at design time rather than shipped and disclaimed.

Billing is metered on actual document pages rather than transmission duration. Failed and cancelled transmissions record zero billed pages. At 110 percent of the monthly allowance, sending and receiving pause rather than accruing overage.

Each Business Associate Agreement signature is hashed and anchored to the Bitcoin blockchain through OpenTimestamps. Customers can download the agreement, the .ots proof and an evidence record, and verify the execution date against the blockchain without relying on LuzardoFax existing at the time of verification.

Encrypted at rest with LUKS2 (AES-256), TLS 1.3 in transit, per-account audit logs, two-factor authentication, and per-user audit logs with role management on the Business plan.
