GIS Routing Description

Transportation Operations Manager (T.O.M. GIS Routing is a full-function routing, mapping, and boundary analysis software product. T.O.M. GIS Routing, a new type of school transportation routing product, brings GIS technology to school districts. T.O.M. is not used in GIS Routing. GIS Routing doesn't use a proprietary mapping software. Instead T.O.M. T.O.M. was designed to use the industry standard GIS map tool; ESRIs ArcView, which STN Magazine called "the de facto industry standard". ArcView T.O.M. GIS Routing allows for the creation of a detailed GIS-enabled street map for your school district from a variety sources. You may be able to get a free GIS street map for your school district from your county or city. You no longer have to pay your routing company to create and maintain a computer-generated street map of your school district.
