Description

Macsmith consolidates various command-line developer tools into a single, user-friendly macOS GUI designed for the seamless management of a local development environment. Users can effortlessly handle Homebrew packages and services, switch between different runtimes using mise and nvm, and run Docker via Colima. The application also allows for the inspection of Lima virtual machines and management of local databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB by starting or stopping their services. Additionally, it provides insights into which processes occupy network ports, facilitates SSH key management, enables editing of hosts files and shell aliases, and helps configure local HTTPS using Caddy and mkcert. Macsmith further enhances developer productivity with integrated DNS utilities, controls for ngrok and cloudflared tunnels, and views for AWS CLI profiles and rclone remotes, along with options for clearing developer caches. Tool state inspection is free, but a one-time Pro license is necessary for installing, updating, starting, stopping, or modifying supported tools. Compatible with both Intel and Apple silicon Macs, Macsmith requires macOS 14 or newer for optimal performance and functionality. Overall, this innovative application streamlines the development workflow, making it an essential tool for developers.

Description

Nivo is a macOS application designed for users who wish to effectively assess and manage their storage, applications, routine maintenance, and system performance all within a single interface. Its Clean feature efficiently scans for caches, temporary files, logs, and other unnecessary data, presenting users with a list of items to review prior to deletion. The Uninstall function is particularly useful as it identifies related support files and settings when applications are deleted. Additionally, the Optimize tool performs essential maintenance tasks, including rebuilding indexes and flushing DNS caches, while the Analyze feature visualizes disk usage through an interactive treemap. The Status section provides real-time insights into CPU, memory, GPU, storage, network, battery health, thermal metrics, and currently active processes. Furthermore, a built-in diagnostic report assists users in examining permissions and identifying common system problems. Compatible with macOS 14 and later versions on both Apple silicon and Intel Macs, Nivo ensures that file scans are conducted locally without transmitting any analytics or telemetry data. Beyond the desktop application, Nivo also includes a distinct open-source command-line tool that utilizes the same cleaning engine, offering users a flexible option for managing their system. This combination of features makes Nivo an all-encompassing solution for users seeking comprehensive control over their macOS environment.
