Description
Excire is AI-powered photo and video management software designed to help photographers, creative professionals, and organizations efficiently organize, search, and curate large visual libraries. It replaces time-consuming manual file organization with intelligent, content-aware tools that make even extensive collections easy to navigate.
Excire allows users to search their libraries using natural-language prompts, making it possible to find images by describing what is shown in the photo rather than relying on folder structures or manually applied tags. Additional tools include people and face search, similarity search for locating visually related images, and automatic descriptive keywording that makes entire libraries searchable with minimal effort. For selection and review workflows, Excire also offers AI-assisted culling, helping users identify their strongest images, detect duplicates, and speed up decision-making.
A key design principle of Excire is local processing. All AI analysis runs directly on the user’s machine, ensuring fast performance and keeping image data fully under the user’s control—an important advantage for professionals and organizations with privacy or data-security requirements.
Excire is available in multiple editions to support different workflows. Excire Foto is a standalone desktop application suited to individual photographers who want powerful AI-driven organization without relying on cloud services or a specific editing ecosystem. Excire Foto Office Edition extends the same feature set to shared, network-based libraries, making it suitable for studios, agencies, and teams working collaboratively. For users who manage their images in Adobe Lightroom Classic, Excire Search seamlessly integrates Excire’s AI-powered tools.
Description
LibrePhotos is a self-hosted alternative to Google Photos, emphasizing impressive graphical representations, and is a fork of Ownphotos. This open-source photo management platform features a Django backend and a React frontend, allowing for easy installation guided by detailed documentation. It supports a variety of photo formats, including raw images and videos, and provides a timeline view along with multiuser capabilities. Users can create albums based on specific events such as "Thursday in Berlin," and utilize advanced features like face recognition, face classification, reverse geocoding, object and scene detection, as well as semantic image search and metadata-based search functionalities. For optimal performance, a system with an x86 processor and at least 8GB of RAM is recommended, while a minimum of 10GB of HDD space is necessary to accommodate Docker images and machine learning models. Additionally, the system generates a database and thumbnails requiring further storage, and it operates with distinct backend and frontend servers for enhanced efficiency. This setup allows users to manage their photo collections effectively while enjoying rich analytical insights.
