Journal bmetzler's Journal: Bush Almighty! 7

The Democrats are about to appoint Howard Dean as the new party chair. This is the same guy who just proclaimed "I hate the Republicans and everything they stand for." That's good for the party idealists, I guess. However, it kind of makes it hard to get *more* votes that you need to win a national race, when you start out by saying that you *hate* 51% of the American voters. Not that any Republicans are complaining, of course, perfectly willing to accept the votes of a majority of Americans that the Democratic party chair has proclaimed hatred for.

So, in light of Dean's proclamation, we have the new Democratic party theme song.

  • better news. It's almost like these people listen to Rush Limbaugh, whom they claim to despise with such passion, and do the exact opposite of what he says, just to spite him! It's freakin' hilarious! Every major decision that the dems have made, every turn in the campaign of 2004, has been predicted by Rush, but they still do it.
    • Hmmm...

You should find Michael Savage for real social commentary and conservative values.

See, Rush toes party (Republican) line most of the time. While Rush is often correct in evaluating political maneuverings he has lost much of his vigor for smaller government.

I tried to listen to Michael Savage. I really did. I just found the guy way too annoying to listen to. When he would stick to values and such, he was fine. It was when he would go off ranting, or ripping a caller a new hole that would just turn me off. I just couldn't take it. I tried, though. I really did...
        • Nod... He's definitely not for everyone. And pulls in the folks you would expect listening in the early AM hours. But as far as true conservatism goes, he cannot be beat. Most of the rest of the folks out there will just toe the line. Which isn't to say I don't listen to others (actually Hannity quite often), but Savage tends to be more entertaining for me. More honest if you will, as many callers deserve to be berated, but the others will just pass on them (Rush has in the past done the caller aborti

Decent write-up, pretty level commentary. You might find it a good read.

    • I personally didn't find it to be level at all, but very right-slanted. For example, I'm sure there are also isolated incidents of Republican election shenanigans. But it's a commentary.

But the willingness of so many Democrats to openly call themselves "haters," to make contempt for the other party their stock-in-trade -- that is something we haven't seen before.

I do think the author has a point here. There definitely seems to be less inhibition on the part of the Left to show everyone what they really th
