One dead, five injured in Jacksonville skydiving plane crash

JACKSONVILLE - One person was killed and five others were injured when a plane carrying skydivers crashed Saturday at a small airport, officials said.
The identities of the victims aboard the Cessna 206 weren't immediately released.
The plane, operated by Skydive Jacksonville, crashed shortly after noon, Jacksonville police spokesman Ken Jefferson told The Florida Times-Union for its Sunday editions.
Investigators said one person died at the scene. Five others, including the pilot, were hospitalized; one person was critically injured, while the remaining passengers suffered only minor injuries, Jefferson said.
Officials said the plane crashed at Herlong Airport, which is where Skydive Jacksonville is based.
A woman who answered the telephone at Skydive Jacksonville's offices Saturday evening declined to comment.
The National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating.
