Gudlyf's Journal: 'Revenge of the Nerds' Remake != Pertinent Today?

According to Variety (RR) and Dark Horizons, Fox Searchlight is planning to remake the 1984 college comedy "Revenge of the Nerds," about a fraternity for socially awkward types, who exact revenge on the jocks who've repeatedly humiliated them. The movie is set to be "similar to the original," but does that kind of mentality really exist these days as much as it did in the mid-1980's? I was under the impression that the past twenty years has been good for the geek.
