Journal Jkames's Journal: Horrible Comments on Slashdot

I find it really annoying when you go to an interesting article and there's a multitude of user comments that are consistently and vaguely off topic or are entirely non-technical or worse. There's also a base redundancy which is unimaginable. I'm suprised that there hasn't been more thought by /.'ers about posting a comment. Maybe a major reason for redundancy is that they were typing their comment and, while doing so, five other people conceived to write that same bloody comment. The answer is simple. Write your comment in notepad before putting it in the comments. Before posting it reload the comments and take a look.

Simularly, an answer to the slightly off-topic redundancy would be to subdue /.'ers by perhaps placing a few links at the bottom of the article and above the comments. These links will provide information about subjects that, though they are somewhat interesting and semi-related to the topic, do not have direct relation to the article.
An example of what I would like to dub "common linking" would be for the article stated "Transparent Aluminum Is Here". Alot of comments are related to Scotty and that damned Star Trek movie. Just link to a page stating the events in the movie about the damned whale and the damned storage tank and then move on to some more relevant things!
