Journal orthogonal's Journal: Supporters of candidate Ralph Nader 10

Please comment here if you support the election of candidate Ralph Nader to the Presidency of the United States.

Please note: Ralph Nader is not currently the Green Party candidate for President; the Green Party may endorse Nader or may run their own candidate, David Cobb. Please comment here only if you will support Nader regardless of the Green Party's decision. If you intend to support the Green party candidate regardless of whether that candidate is Nader or not, please add your comment to the last journal in this series, for "Supporters of a candidate or party not listed above" candidates.

Anonymous entries will not be included in the final tally. All other entries, even those with text opposing the candidate, will be construed as support for candidate Ralph Nader. If you support another candidate, please post in the corresponding journal entry.

Please add only a single comment to only one of the four tally journals. Additional comments or advocacy can be added to the latest journal entry which announces this Straw Poll.

This discussion has been archived. No new comments can be posted.

  • But isn't Nader a Green? ;)
I think it's almost about time you yanks start letting us vote in your elections anyway -- it's not as if you don't draft our laws, and enforce your laws on our territory or something.
    *sigh*

    Ralph Nader for President, 2004!
  • Yeah, so technically I can't vote for being a Canadian, but if I could I would vote Nader without hesitation. Clinton bombed 4 countries in his last years in power, and Kerry looks like he's cut from the same cloth. I'd sooner have an obvious asshole than a slick one.

That said, I understand if in swing states you'd rather vote for Kerry than Bush; I probably would do the same.

Ideally, Nader should have a list of non-negotiable conditions for Kerry to meet to get his support, things that most informed peop
    • 1. We can't leave Iraq until the Iraqi's are in power. No one in power is suggesting otherwise, including those opposed to the war in the first place.

      2. The UN has yet to have even a qualified success in a hostile situation. Please...point me to one. I honestly have looked.

      3. The Kyoto Protocol was aimed to bankrupt us. Not a chance in hell would this get signed. No one has wanted this, no one will. Come back with technology, not more regulations, and we just might listen to you.

      • How strange. Bush has hosed your budget that Clinton repaired... not that I liked Clinton, but why are you afraid of Kerry?

        As for your points:
1- That's a "have you stopped beating your wife?" type thing. Most of the people in the peace movement that I know don't think that the transition of power to Iraqis is anything other than a sham. To get German, French and Russian approval the US had to agree to pull troops out in 2005, but the plan was to leave them there. And I for one would rather the UN be there
  • wow, no posts for anyone yet, its almost weird knowing that i'd be accountable for 100% of the vote, i guess its the low voter turnout effect everyones ranting on about these days.
even if this poll gets another say 10 or so votes i'll still epitomise the minds of 30million odd yanks ... not quite the same influence as tyranical dictator but not bad for 5 minutes work ... imagine if i then started censoring contributions based on slashdot usernames that looked similiar to the names of known trolls ...

    oh ye
