Journal Wes Janson's Journal: What happened to reading?

Browsing through my past comments, I noticed the following:

Now, how is it that they can really not understand the reference or its relationship to the original topic? And how is it that, failing to understand the reference, they mod it down as a troll?

Some days I feel good about slashdot, some days I wonder if it isn't really 95% idiots, and 5% intelligent posters. I just find it hard to understand how someone has never read 1984, yet frequents an especially libertarian, geek-centric website such as /.
