About a year ago somebody had a JE about quality kitchen knives. /. and google searches haven't revealed anything.
Anyone remember who's journal it's in.

We are getting ready to replace our main chainstore knives this spring.

I've still got two sets of kitchen knives from the wedding that I haven't opened yet. Yes, they are garbage knives, but they have lasted so far.

yeah ours were wedding knives, but they just wont hold an edge anymore.

I don't want to hunt through those guys journals though.

JtS put out a script [slashdot.org] to download journals. It might be useful, as you could just pull their entire journal and then search for knives.

No, I indeed suck. It's really really sad that I knew the thread you were talking about and could go back to it so easily. Trust me, I just don't have enough available storage in my memory banks to spare on crap like this. But deleting files and defragging my brain is just not as easy as it is on my computer. *sigh*

Wow, I remembered it was sometime around then, but couldn't remember who... and I thought *I* was a font of useless knowledge. ;)

I guess I remembered "who" as part of the conversation, because the threads I get involved in are so like conversations -- and I usually remember who I have conversations with. Slashdot folks have become so real to me that I remember them more than as just UserIDs, to the extent that I frequently have dreams that involve y'all. And that is just plain weird.

I love our henckels (paring, santuko, and bread knife), but I also love our Meissermeister chefs' knives (4" and an 8" chef). :)
