singularity's Journal: Octopus (Take 5)

Another octopus update: I ordered the octopus online on Sunday evening. I heard from the company today - the octopus they want to send is still a little small and young, and they do not want to ship it yet. They are planning on getting it shipped next Tuesday, which means I will have my pet octopus next Wednesday.

The winning name was Pixel, submitted by Slashdot reader Heliocentric. Heliocentric, as I mentioned in my last entry, also nominated the winning name for my computer.

Also ordered with the octopus are 100 baby clams to serve as food in the beginning, and two Sally Lightfoot crabs to help with some algae growth in the tank.

Price of livestock: About $40.
Cost of the box to ship it: $10.
Cost to overnight the entire package: About $45.
