I've spent all of last night thinking about this, and have come to the conclusion that world peace is indeed achievable - and even likely - in the forseeable future, however, not without one minor prerequisite - everyone is dead.

Even then there won't be world peace. The bacteria will be duking it out over the corpses.

But don't worry, in a few billion years the universe will consist of nothing but black holes and neutron stars anyway. We're all doomed, whatever we do.
