Journal Trolling4Dollars's Journal: Looking for monitor suggestions (inspired by bethanie) 2

It happened. I knew it would eventually. The love afair had to come to an end. My Supermatch 20" CRT died on me this past Sunday. I turned it on, it went fuzzy and then blanked out. It came back a few times, but was always fuzzy. I'm sure it's dead. Not bad considering that It's from 1995 and I've owned it these past five years. But, the time has come to replace this wonderful machine. For the time being I'm stuck with a Viewsonic 17" monitor that can't support higher than 1024x768. And so I come to you my friends (and hopefully some freaks and foes as well) and ask for your opinion on monitors. What brands and types of experiences have you had?

I am looking for something in the 19-21" range that has accurate color for digital photo editing and video editing. I don't do professional print, so I'm not too worried about going to paper. But I want something that is going to allow me to accurately color correct my photos. I tend to prefer 1600x1280, but wouldn't mind going higher since my video card supports that. I also have been interested in trying to make sure that the next monitor is an LCD to economize on space, but I'm not sure if there are any LCD displays that are up to the task of accurate color.

So lay it on me folks. What do you have? What do you like about it? Dislike? Price range?

Thanks! :)

Update: DOH! I forgot to enable comments. Thanks GVT.

(counting, thinking, processing...) gosh, it's all over 7 years old; he hasn't bought a new machine since he met me. Yes, put in new motherboards and upgraded and upgraded and upgraded -- but it's all ancient machinery, esp. the monitors.

Which is why I'm campaigning for a new laptop for Xmas! :-)
