      Sounds like SGI to me - finding their own Unix wasn't doing well, so they try to get into the x86 market with Microsoft. That flops, so they try Linux on the same hardware. Also a flop, so they switch to Itanium - except Intel's already in bed with HP on that, and doesn't need SGI for anything.

      Poor SGI. AFAICT, nice hardware, but lousy management - which ultimately leads to a dead company...
