Journal phyxeld's Journal: Selling War 2
I was just getting my last dose of infotainment when I found myself clicking from google news over to my local ABC affiliate. Aside from the healthy war-is-good message they recommend you feed your children, I also noticed that they are running what appear to be banner ads for nothing other than the war itself.
Want to read some other news? How about checking the weather? As of right now, the weather page (and just about every other) has banner at the top with the text "WAR (with) IRAQ", some pictures of our two key players, a few random military type images, and the text "CLICK HERE". Beneath that, on every page, are links to some of their "special coverage". Theres actually a link to "Iraq Weather" above the local weather report. The local report doesn't even start until 50% down the page. Even the weather page has had it's weather preempted for war.
I just copied two of the ABC banners and mirrored them here. If anyone cares to link me to some more from other people in the war business, I think I might start collecting them. We are literally living in a time when the very professionals we trust for information are marketing death and destruction to us like it was any other product. Incredible.
