Journal Timex's Journal: Where in the world is this Timex guy? 10

I don't know if there are many in Teh Circle that still monitor JEs here, but on the off-chance there was and any of you are interested, I thought I would post a list of places I'm more inclined to be found:

My Blog - http://notyourinter.net/blog/

Google+ - https://plus.google.com/ (Look for smithadmin)

Diaspora - https://joindiaspora.com/u/smithadmin

Facebook - https://www.facebook.com/smithadmin

My blog is there, but I only post on it when I have time to kill, which hasn't happened a lot lately. G+ is probably your best bet if you need or care to reach me with any level of expediency.

Where in the world is this Timex guy?

  • Especially since I've been so preoccupied that I haven't even had time to set up my email accounts since the "crash or 2011" - when the nvidia cpu flaw ate my laptop a week after the power supply ate my desktop and the subsequent OS upgrade ate my email (and can't import the backup ... oh the shame of it all, but it is what it is).

Hopefully I'll be finished with this part by the weekend [slashdot.org], throw it over the wall and see what happens for next week, and tend to all the stuff I've been ignoring the last few mon

    • Sounds to like me about 5-6 years ago. Realized my PC cratering crash, and unreadable backups had just digitally lost most pics of the first 3 years of my son's life. Been on Mac's ever since, with sequential and full backups performed almost too often.

That *has* to suck. Just for fun, did you toss the drives? I've found that several drives that were totally unreadable (click of death, boot screens that looked like a bowl of cheerios, etc), after sitting on the shelf for a few months, can be read for a few hours before they start going wonky again even when things like the freezer trick don't work.

        • I did hold on to them just in case. However, I've pitched every PC. I could pop my most recent HD extrnal drive (old primary HD for the MBP laptop) and swap it in, to see if Lion will read it. I'll have to try that sometime when "little fingers" aren't nearby :)
  • I'm still hanging around, but only for the JEs. Slashdot's stories have pretty much descended into worthlessness.

      Pretty much, yeah.

I pop over to see what's going on the front page once in a while, but only when I want to see what's going on on FM (FreeCode now?)... Slashdot cross-posting to Facebook pretty-much sealed that vat shut, I think. <shrug>

Always draw your curves, then plot your reading.
