Journal tomhudson's Journal: WARNING: Domain Name Registry of Canada Scam - Again!

One of the problems when you have multiple domains is that scumbags like the Domain Name Registry of Canada will crawl the net looking for victims to scam.

The government has tried to warn people about these crooks since 2001

So every year, I get a piece of snail mail or one or more new domains that I've registered. This year, they're offering to renew 3 of my domains for 1 year@40 each ($120), 2 years@$70 each ($210), or 5 years@160 each ($480)

To compare, I just renewed slushdot and xmlsucks for $8 each yesterday.

Anyone falling for this almost deserves to be scammed. Almost, but not quite.

Domain slamming is just part of the seamy underside of the internet.
