Currently, only some /. users seem to be able to see a story on the front page:

It's not visible to logged out users (though people can post as AC), and it cant be found in any section pages. It seems to be only visible with the preference "Collapse Stories" set. Very strange.

I've been out of town for a few days and missed a lot of /. activity, but the story was on the main page for me (I have all sub-categories listed out there as well) when I checked for messages and saw your JE.

subscribbed users onle?

They were talking about giving subscribers a jump start on stories. Is this the first one that subscribers get access to?

probably not. I'm not a subscriber, and there's a thread in the article discussing that very idea. There are people there who say they're not subscribers either.

It's almost as if the story were placed in a non-exisistent section, hiding it from everyone who doesnt force all stories onto the front page via the Collapse Section option.
