Found this article over at ESPN. Basically, a French goalkeeper hurt his back ... playing Scrabble. The article lists several other strange injuries soccer goalies have gone through.

Reminds me of an injury the Flyers had a few years ago - Dan McGillis broke his thumb during Thanksgiving dinner while unloading the dishwasher.

That #@$@( lower back thing will not work right until we finish evolving. Until then, it will be stuck 1/2-way between quad- and biped support--and causing all manner of mayhem.

I managed to wack my back good just bending down to tie my shoe about two years ago. Conversely, last week I got rear-ended on the fwy (ripped the heck out of my bumper) and not a peep from Messrs Lumbar, Thoracic, or Cervical.
