Journal Jucius Maximus's Journal: Happy 2000th Post. 8

It's proven. I'm a slashdot addict and I have now racked up 2000 posts. Wow, and I've only been a member for about 28 months, if my count is right.

Basically, I'm writing this journal entry so that the post can be housed without polluting an article and so I can always find it. Sentimental value, I guess. Feel free to ignore it.

Happy 2000th Post.

Hello everyone, my nick is Jucius Maximus and I am addicted.

  • You may also be suffering from a similar problem of dependence on bandwidth consumption. See my sig for help.
    • "Do you have a backup network connection just in case your primary connection goes down?"

No. I am on an ultra-long phone loop and can only get 28.8.

"Do you consume more than 300 milligrams of caffeine a day in order to prolong your bandwidth consumption sessions?"

Nope, and I only drink carbonated stuff once or twice a week. I don't drink coffee/cappucino/etc at all and can't remember the last time I had tea.

"Do you work a low paying support job mainly because of the 100 Mb connection you get to use while you are working?"

Nope. I'm a full time student anyway, starting a job in January. I don't know what the bandwidth there is like. "Do you bring a laptop with a 802.11b NIC with you in your car in the hopes that you will be able to connect to a wireless network while you drive?"

I don't own a laptop and have never used 802.11b.

"Do you have multiple hard-drives to store your massive collection of mp3s and pr0n?"

I have two HDDs: One for OSs and Apps, the other for work, and other stuff.

"Have you downloaded enough mp3s to start your own radio station?"

      Not on a 28.8!

"Do you share a network connection with your neighbors so that you can afford a faster connection?"

I wish! But geographical constraints prevailed. Too far and too many trees for 802.11b. No chance of ethernet either due to distance.

"Do you run your computer non-stop, with a gnutella client constantly downloading from a giant queue of files?"

      The 28.8 limits me again.

  • I started reading slashdot July 2001. Since then I've installed my first linux and become hardcore GNU. Nowadays I find I gotta go to slashdot every 15min.
