The apocalypse is coming: I have mod points again

Comments Filter:
  • Hell, I've received new modpoints even before the expiration of the old modpoints.

I just used up my latest batch this afternoon -- it will probably be sometime tomorrow or Tuesday when I get another batch. I rarely even post anymore it seems -- I just read and moderate it seems. I really should post to my Journal however -- I've been thinking about writing up my experiences with trying to convert my home entirely over to energy efficiency lighting.

    Yaz.

I think me getting mod points is a not so subtle way of telling me to STFU :-) But sadly I forget now and then and reply, only to have my well planned mods undone. Sigh.
      • I find it hilarious that in a discussion about mod points, you were modded flamebait in your own journal entry. :)

        • I hope I get this thread in meta-moderation sometime -- my original post in this thread got modded Offtopic.

Someone is obviously abusing their modpoints :P.

          Yaz.

          • Presumably we're all secure enough in our "karma" that it's no big deal. I actually found myself LOL - not that I condone such abuse or anything. If I found these on meta-moderation (which I'm getting ready to do), I would mark them as "unfair", but I still find them humorous.

(By posting this, I'm also proving that I'm not the rogue moderator!)

Hehe, yeah most likely someone who knows me has an amusing sense of humor this morning....
    • Hell, I've received new modpoints even before the expiration of the old modpoints.

      New slashpoll:

[_] Mod points now take 2 years to expire?
[_] What bug in slashcode did you exploit?
[_] What are these "mod points" you speak of?
[_] What did nizo do to get off pudge's sh*t list?
[_] What did nizo do to get off pudge's sh*t list, so I can make sure not to do the same ;-)
[_] Mod points are the new pink. Nya nya na nyaa nya.

      Mod-point-free since ... gee ... must be 3 years now ...

      • I haven't been karma whoring for at least two years now and still remain intact with good karma. I get mod points occassionally, 3 weeks as others say is probably about right. I have turned off my karma bonus on posts though - which has had unintended benefits. Back to topic: that is a pretty funny poll idea. I don't think it'd fly though.
        • Thanks,

I've tried burning through my karma ... all that does is get me temporarily banned while my karma stubbornly sits at "excellent."

This is the third time in as many weeks, but as I keep having to say, I too get modpoints all the time. I recently just let an entire set expire, because I didn't find anything that motivated me to mod.
  • Its watching all you multiply posts, well, multiply.

And yet it still wants me back!

My writing class teacher said she would give us an honest appraisal of our work at the end of the semester. Not only has this class helped my writing, but it has also given me a much thicker skin :-)

Yep. Like buying flowers for your wife cause she cheated on you;-)

Which is awesome! I'd love to read more of your writing. Maybe if we write enough between us we can goad The Fun Guy into finally writing his darn novel;-)

I still wouldn't mind starting some kind of online zine for new writers or somesuch, but then I think about all the work involved, and how the world doesn't need another website, and then I do nothing. If I could talk people out of stuff as well as I talk myself out of things, I would be the best (anti) salesperson in the whole world!!! I think if anything I am gonna try to come up with something like http://critique.org/ [critique.org], but smaller :-) *sigh* Or I could just get involved with that again.....

          I should post

  • i had mod points last week but i just let them expire

It's been well over a year since I have seen mod points.

Well prior to the previous batch, I can't even remember when I last had them (years and years). I wonder why I recently started getting them again; paranoid theories abound:

      - I finally got off someone's evil list of banninnnation
      - Fewer readers == more chances for people to get points
      - Serious dropoff on my reading here at the dot (thanks multiply!)

I dunno which is the most likely reason, or if I missed the clue boat entirely.

According to all the latest reports, there was no truth in any of the earlier reports.
