Journal Iamthefallen's Journal: Take your baby to work day 5

It was time to update to SQL Server SP1 and Saturday seems like a good day since the office is largely empty. So I took the baby with me to let Tammy sleep in some and give me a chance to teach him all about being a DBA. He's remarkably attentive, but I think the process may still be somewhat confusing to him and his inability to take notes poses a slight obstacle. But at 10 months, I'm willing to cut him some slack.

  • ...to start teaching him how to bill consultant hours. :-)
    • A useful skill in the legal field as well. Well I thought about strategies for your case while brushing myteth this morning, so that'd be .1 hours, then over breakfast, so that'd be .2 hours, I checked slashdot to make sure that you company wasn't unfairly referred to in any of the posts, so that's another 6.7 hours...
  • Well he's certainly ready for his MCSE certification. :-D
  • Perhaps you could get him Microsoft Visual Studio to boost his programming skills when he's old enough to have a birthday.
    And for spreadsheets, Visicalc.
    And for project work, Visio.
And Oracle might be more intuitive for him, too.
  • The only fair thing to do is to prepare the process, and then let him hit the Enter key.

He'll happily go home and tell mommy how he upgraded the server.

At ten months old, would that be "Mmy, I upblbd d slbdbbl!" ? (I don't know, I never had kids at ten months old).

Ya'll hear about the geometer who went to the beach to catch some rays and became a tangent ?
