Journal Otter's Journal: NHL unveils new high-tech hockey uniforms 4

The National Hockey League unveiled new uniforms developed by Reebok, to be used for the first time in Wednesday's all-star game. The new "Rbk EDGE system" is the biggest change in hockey uniforms since the switch from the old wool "sweaters", and features a 9% reduction in aerodynamic drag (measured by MIT's wind tunnel), and should be lighter, cooler and drier. • 9% less drag on his jersey does not equal 9% more speed for a hockey player. also, the link does not take you to the story.

Thanks!!! There were actually two links there; I separated them to make it clearer. Does the ESPN link work for you now? (I had trouble finding a decent link on the NHL site.)

As for the 9% more speed -- I do realize that's not actually how it works.

      • Links make more sense now. As to the speed reference, I was trying to head off arguements that would occur if the story got accepted. I imagine that the lighter weight of the outfit at the end of a session would acutally be much more important. Cool story though, thanks!

Not to mention the income potential for the individual teams of selling the new jerseys to fans.

To thine own self be true. (If not that, at least make some money.)
