Journal thpdg's Journal: Why Linux on Mac x86 hardware?

I seemed to have attracted the usual fanboy posting. Seems I'm an Apple fanboy myself. I didn't actually know that, being that I haven't owned an Apple since my Apple II+.
I'm just at such a huge loss as to why you'd purchase over priced Apple Mac x86 hardware, and then turn around and delete the OS and use it as a Linux box. Why not just buy a decent Windows PC for 75% of the price and delete the OS? Or better, buy components and build. It's much easier to solve compatibility problems when you've hand picked the hardware for your box.
It's amazing to me that /. commenters can jump on one of their own, just to continue pushing their view that *nix/*BSD has to be installed on EVERYTHING in sight.
