Journal webhat's Journal: I want a new phone [Updated] 6

I want a new phone, it has to have tri-band, bluetooth, good battery, and I have to be able to hack it. I don't want a camera, mp3 player, simlock, or any other none phone things. It can have internet, but I probably won't use it.

And most importantly it can absolutely not be ugly or impractical - which means I want Nokia like sms or should be able to hack it so it has the sms interface of a Nokia phone, as I am used to it - there are only really ugly phones on the market. I've been looking for 2 years without luck.

What phones do you use?

And if you had an unlimited budget, which I don't have, which phone would you upgrade to?

The reason I ask is because I think I'll buy one in one of those Far Easter countries I am going to visit.

  • Have had it for two years. Fine phone, but doesn't suit your needs since it doesn't have bluetooth. Hackability? Dunno... never tried. It should run Java programs, but I never bothered. I bought the USB data cable, so I can connect it to my PC (Mac not supported *sigh*)

The coolest phone I saw recently was bought by my dad: Siemens SF65 [siemens.de]. Still doesn't go with your requirements, but I think it's cool :-)

  • I use the Nokia 6200. It doesn't do bluetooth, but otherwise it seems to fit your bill.
    • I actually like this phone, it also allows me to attach my bluetooth plug to the bottom. It does have one slight problem I don't like the cursor key, but it's at least better that those damned stupid joysticks.

It's a naive, domestic operating system without any breeding, but I think you'll be amused by its presumption.
