Infoworld's rumor column is reporting that Allaire (Cold Fusion) and NCR (Teradata) are considering Linux ports... World domination by the year 2000?

The program is provided with full GPL'd source, and is available from here. This means you can now use Linux with the first truely portable MP3 player. "

Oracle plans to distribute and support Linux, probably licensing an existing distribution to bundle with their database. However they will still support all 4 major distributions ( including I assume Redhat (US), Pacific HiTech (Japan) and SUSE (Europe)) wanting to be the people who are called if a user has a problem with Linux. It seems that Debian decided to stop distributing KDE both on CDROM and through the Internet.

This week's Linux Weekly News' lead article discusses the possible impact on independent VARs if Robert Young's prediction that 6 of the 10 major PC manufacturers will start distributing Linux turns out true. An article in PC Week lists likely contenders to be Gateway (has been doing certification tests with Linux for six months, and most likely will install Linux across its enterprise server line next year, said Ray Hebert, senior manager of servers), IBM, Dell, Hitachi, Toshiba, Compaq and HP which have all made some sort of positive noise about Linux...

Craig Sanders sent us a link to an article about (surprise!) Linux called The People's Revolution, which is a front page story from the IT pages in The Age, Melbourne's biggest newspaper. Mike_Miller wrote in to say that Rob Kennedy (of linux-howto.com fame) is starting a monthly magazine called Ext2 about (surprise) Linux. Josh Baugher wrote in to say 32 Bits Online is now changing their focus to be a (surprise) Linux oriented site. And lastly, mholve has written a nice bit on Advocacy for (surprise!) Linux.
