Journal wowbagger's Journal: Internet SERVICE provider
OK, those of you who read this will think I am making this up. Believe me, I am dead serious.
A few minutes ago, I was here, in front of my main system, checking mail and doing some surfing. Things were running slow - 2400 bps modem slow. So, I checked my firewall - no, all's well there. Oh well, must just be the sites I'm visiting....
Then the phone rings. I answer it:
me: "hello?"
Other party: "David? This is Darren at Southern Kansas. Is your Internet connection down? Pages loading slow or not loading?"
me: "Yes - are you guys having problems?"
Darren: "Yes, big problems"
me: "Is there anything I can do to help" (I was thinking things like allowing them to ping my firewall, even running diagnostics on this end)
Darren: "No. Just wanted to let you know"
Folks, that is why I like dealing with smaller businesses - they haven't lost sight of the fact that ISP stands for Internet Service Provider.
Now, I could understand this if I were one of the owners, or if I had a T1 terminated here, or if I were a business, but I'm just a residential customer with their mid-grade DSL.
Trust me - if you are considering moving to the Wichita area, send me an e-mail or post a reply to this journal entry - I'll point you in the right direction....
P.S. obviously, they have the problems fixed now - about 30 minutes later....
