Stem cells derived from skin Cells->

Submitted by
Critical Facilities
Critical Facilities writes "In an unprecedented feat of biological alchemy, researchers have turned human skin cells into stem cells that hold the same medical promise as the controversial embryonic stem cells. Scientists believe stem cell research will be able to cure numerous diseases and regenerate failing bodies. The new technique, however, doesn't require the destruction of embryos, or use human eggs or cloning. Thus, it sweeps aside the ethical objections to stem-cell research."

Google building its own 10G Ethernet switches?->

Submitted by
carusoj
carusoj writes "An analyst at Nyquist Capital looked at the market for optical components and saw a "dark matter problem" — that is, he couldn't account for where all the components were going. He investigated and concluded that Google is building its own 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches to interconnect servers in its massive data centers. This kind of effort would not be out of character for Google, which builds its own servers and is buying server software companies."

Telus to offer adult material over cell service

Submitted by icepick72
icepick72 writes "Canadian B.C. businessman Gordon Keast is suing Telus, a North American phone carrier, after the company refused to let him out of a three-year cellphone contract because he objects to Telus offering what he says is a pornography service. Meanwhile a priest in Vancouver is urging Catholics to boycott Telus because of the adult content. Telus is the first North American provider to directly offer such a service. While the priest is directing others regarding this issue, the businessman just wants out — should he be allowed to break his contract? (Cue jokes: A Canadian businessman, a Telus representative and a priest go fishing ...)"

So does this mean that every city in Canada will be able to use a different service provider?
While it would be feasible to maintain an account with several providers in different cities, it seems like a government-sponsered portal would make more sense than required accounts to be created directly on the company site. Maybe this won't be an issue since most of one's parking would be in one city; just a thought.
