Comment Upgrade versions can't be clean installed (Score 1) 1

As far as I know, with Windows 7 you could install upgrade versions without upgrading anything, as long as you didn't activate it originally. But it looks like the hack for Windows 7, where you install without activating and then later activate doesn't work (http://www.pcauthority.com.au/News/320816,boxed-copies-of-windows-8-pro-do-not-work-for-clean-installs.aspx)

That's really true. I found some articles with terrible sources, and tried to spur on some improvement to the articles within the guidelines of the encyclopedic nature. But you can't do anything to make Wikipedia better anymore. There are control freaks watching every page and every edit, reverting any changes and forcing their viewpoint on everyone.

Comment Comparing Oranges to Apple (Score 2, Interesting) 580

THis is like comparing Oranges to Apple. Microsoft does a lot of their own R&D, while Apple just pays people to do it for them. Microsoft makes more than 10x what Apple does, and did 10x the amount of R&D. So what if this year Apple made a big improvement in their profits--it's not going to happen if they keep putting out the same old system from 10 years ago. People bought iPods and iPhones because they are new and they did enough R&D to make sure it works pretty well. Nobody likes Vista because it's basically just XP with some window dressing. If they cut the R&D what are they going to do, release another XP year after year?

Comment Study CS in Taiwan (Score 1) 386

I'm a CS student in Taiwan, doing my Master's degree here. There are more and more universities here teaching all kinds of subjects in English, including computer science. The Taiwanese are very good at math, so you do need to study hard. If you're interested, you can try my university: www.ncu.edu.tw. If you go to the website you'll notice that there's a link for an English version of the website. Another thing that might be good about coming to Taiwan is that it's cheap! It's less than US$2000 a year for tuition, so you're set if you can get even a low scholarship from the university or maybe from the Taiwan office in your country.
