Journal twitter's Journal: M$ Plans $300E6 More in Ads for Vista.

From the more things change them more they stay the same dept.

Reacting to the nearly universal condemnation of Vista, M$ has fired their advertiser and hired a new one for a meaner campaign.

Over the next few weeks, Microsoft will roll out an ad campaign intended to change peoples' minds about Vista. The company is tight-lipped about what those ads will look like, but they should be more aggressive than anything weve seen to date.

More aggressive? It looks like more of the same to me. M$ has already spent hundreds of millions of dollars and has been relentless in their attack on Vista critics, ODF, Apple, Google, OLPC and Yahoo directly and by proxy. It will be nice to see them be a little more direct but bashing their competitors won't polish the Vista turd. The "Don't listen to those bad people", and, "It's all in your head" lines have worn thin everywhere. Wild and previously discredited statements will only cost them more credibility and show how out of touch they are.

Update: Boycott Novel noticed the plans are now for $500 million.
