Journal twitter's Journal: Former Cybersecurity Chief Calls for End of the Internet 2
Richard Clarke who once harshly criticized M$'s abominable security record and looked like a champion of privacy would now give M$ and the US Government complete control of the internet and your computer as a way to "solve" the problems created by M$. His five point plan to ruin the internet is:
- Biometric IDs. Free speech and anonymity don't exist because of bad policies and laws, so he figures they are not important.
- Government Regulation. He compares freedom to lead paint.
- ISPs should be given police powers and made to use them.
- A secure software standard, like M$ has. Stop laughing, he means it.
- Building "closed internets" that you and I can't use.
There you go, a man thinking entirely outside the box.
Update, 8/16 2008: Lawrence Lessig says Clark tells of a i911 event uses as an excuse
Clarke was a DMFI and obscurity security stupid. (Score:2)
