Journal tomhudson's Journal: [Wii] Scored Namco Museum Remix + Mario Kart 2
Prev: How Sony and Microsoft Lost to Nintendo | Next: Wii Music
So it looks like I'll be looking 3 more steering wheels and 4 "classic controllers" next weekend.
They really know how to suck the money out of a body, don't they
Namco Museam Remix
When I read the blurb on this, I put it on my "I want to check this out" list. It's well below the cost of most Wii games, and hey, PacMan, Super Pacman, Galaxian, Dig Dug and a few others, plus some newer pacman-themed games that use the Wii's motion sensors
Who would like this:
- Old farts, nostalgia buffs, people who want to inflict their "games were better when we were young'uns";
- Kids that just want some simple newer games to "just play";
- Poeple with a short attention span;
- Anyone who wants to play the oldies again and FINALLY beat them!
- Anyone with some Wii Classic controllers who wants to put them to use.
Who will want to skip this title:
- If you're into long complicated story-telling games, this is not for you - save up your coin for Zelda;
- The classic games don't use the controllers' motion sensing capabilities, so if that's an essential part of gaming, shell out some extra dough for Boom Blox;
Bottom line: Cheap entertainment with a nostalgia factor. Why not?
Mario Party 8 (Score:2)
Played a couple Mario Party 8 games with my family this week-end. It went over very well. Mario Kart will be my next one.
I've still got 4 game cube controllers so that's good if we get any games that can use them. We still play a lot of our gamecube games on our wii. That's a nice feature. In fact I've played Zelda Twilight Princess all the way through a few times, but never the wii version.

I'm wondering about how the DSi will go now that they have downloadable demos for it direct from the Wii channel ...
In one sense, I'm disappointed that they made the browser an extra download, but I can understand their thinking - they want to get people into the Wii store, they want to get them into console games, and once enough people are browsing with their Wii, other extra-value services will pop up, whereas if it was included, they'd have to support it, etc.
