What's the fastest way to count M&Ms?

tblake writes "So i was sitting here with a pack of M&Ms and most of the time I usually sort them before eating them. I used to pick them one at a time randomly and place them into their colored piles, and then I started picking out individual colors and then moving on to the next. This led me to wonder, which one was faster. Back in college I'd consider this a nice little programming assignment but I must be getting old because I can't think of a good way to codify this. Anyone out there know a good way and what the answer might be?"
