They didn't predict the storms so much as cause them. If we let them send up more satellites they can get back on schedule for destroying the world in 2012. Due to budget restrictions, delays and the housing market crash they already missed the judgement day deadline. Skynet is going to build itself. If we don't hurry up there won't be any more films about the US building doomsday devices because they just will not be believable. Everyone will know the Chinese will build them first. Most of our students and potential mad scientists already come from abroad. We have to do this while we still can otherwise we will just become irrelevant and depend on other countries for dictating the future of humanity.

How prevent next war justified by false acusation:->

Anonymous Coward writes "Idea that could have prevented Iraq war.

Here is how things should have gone.
US claims WMD. IRAQ disputes US and puts up money against claim in form of a bet.
Bet entails independent confirmation by agreed on third party(s).
Iraq demands a very specific claim that can be verified by independent third party.

If US refuses bet people loose confidence in claim and justification for war.

Verification is done.Iraq makes money from false claims to compensate inconvenience. War is avoided.

Based on this general idea a betting website should be made to serve the public good and debunk false claims. and bad news stories."

Hardly FLG. That is one item that didn't seem involved in the Tibet issue. I am a bored nerd with too much time on his hands. Oh one more item... -- If you ever find yourself in a land where everything is taken too literally It is best to have another language to fall back upon. This is esp true for psychiatric computer science students. Too much hawking radiation is bad. I wonder just how many programmers know more then one language.

sm4096 writes "We need a reminder not to fight wars lest new generations forget the lessons we have learned. Never again need to be more then just mere words. We need a constant reminder of our past lest we repeat it. a Good way of bringing together people would be on the battlefield of sports. Professional sports pay better then the military. What better way to encourage peace then to bring together longtime rivals on a sports-field. Just as a flyswatter is an innocuous way of honing our hunting instinct paint-ball could make a better substitute for wars."

As things go few people seem to understand the troubles or something would have been done already. We need to come to a understanding. For those of us who believe in vast corporate, government and media conspiracies my work may come as somewhat of a shock. This is not to say that such things don't exist, but its just that most people are not part of them. I will put forward and try to make a case that the issues in Tibet are the result of misguided misinformed persons and intentions."

Analyst, 15, creates storm after trashing Twitter->

Submitted by

Barence writes "A 15-year-old schoolboy has become an overnight sensation after writing a report on teenagers' media habits for analysts Morgan Stanley. Intern Matthew Robson was asked to write a report about his friends' use of technology during his work experience stint with the firm's media analysts. The report was so good the firm decided to publish it, and it generated "five or six" times more interest than Morgan Stanley's regular reports. The schoolboy poured scorn on Twitter, claiming that teenagers "realise that no one is viewing their profile, so their tweets are pointless". He also claimed games consoles are replacing mobile phones as the way to chat with friends."
