It is sad that a plain clothes detective was injured. I don't want to see anyone injured or attacked in any way. I hate violence. As a pacifist, I think peaceful protests are the way to go.

Those reports were of people randomly assembling in areas without barracades and police trying to keep them away from convention goers. At one point a police officer threatened to use mace on the protesters if they didn't clear away.
