Journal pudge's Journal: Morons 18

If you're listening to a rock star in order to get your information on who to vote for, you're a bigger moron than they are. Why are we rock stars? Because we're morons. We sleep all day, we play music at night and very rarely do we sit around reading the Washington Journal.

So sayeth Alice Cooper.

The best part about this quote is that there is no "Washington Journal" for them to read anyway.

We all know how the Right shrugged it off when the Dixie Chicks said they were ashamed to be from Texas. What goes around comes around. You don't have to read the National Journal to see what Bush has done to our economy and our military preparedness, or to know that he still hasn't captured Bil Laden.

What came around, that is going around? I don't understand what you're referring to.

The Dixie Chicks are musicians talking about politics, your subject.

Refering to the obviousness of effects on the economy and military preparedness and goals not requiring study of political journals direcly pertains to your Alice Cooper quote.

How could I possibly be any more on topic?

Do you just call arguments that you don't want to hear "off topic" -- is that it?

No, it really didn't. You were using it as an excuse to bash Bush.

How could I possibly be any more on topic?

By not talking about things that are not off topic.

Meta-discussions are also off-topic, though I do indulge requests for clarification, as I have now done.
          • Ok... I have to admit when I first read you calling him off topic, I didn't see how.

Reading your reasoning and re-reading the JE, I can kinda see it -- but the topic lends itself to talk about celebs political commentary. 'pianos' commentary (which you cite as bashing Bush) seemed tossed in for emphasis -- but in my opinion it was said in a way that would lead to an off topic discussion.

BUT, talking about staying on topic certainly is moving the discussion OFF topic as the attempts to stay on topic is n

... For me, one strand of marchers [in the anti-war-in-Iraq demonstrations of early 2003] was way out in front when it came to playing host to those uninvited but gluttonous guests, hypocrisy and decadence. It was surreal to see the best part of a million people marching in support of denying other people the very freedom they were smugly celebrating. But what really brought a tear (of mirth) to the eye, and a
