Big, Warm, Sweet, Interior Glowing

from the album "Kalhoun"
Words by Terry Taylor
Music by Terry Taylor, Tim Chandler and Greg Flesch
Copyright 1991 Twitchen Vibes/ Brainstorm Artists Int'l.. ASCAP/BMI

He will always trust his own vision
Could be a dangerous man
He's guided by no one
Attracted to the sound
Of the interior voices
He will not listen hard enough
To any other man

Chorus:
He gets a big warm sweet interior glowing
He gets a grand elitist superior knowing
This convinces us he's infallible - yeah

By sheer force of will
He leaves a deep impression
Self-confidence persuades us that he is a saint
Then we watch him tear apart another city
Turns it to dust and ash
A mighty nation's falling

(Chorus)

He downs another coffee
And the feeling grows
He's building monuments so high
In his expanding mind
He eats a six course dinner
And hears the voice of the spirit
This voice says
"Well done my very good and faithful servant"

(Chorus)

you've turned against Bush and his ability to talk to Jebus?
    • I plan to vote for Bush, and I believe he talks to Jesus. *shrug*
      • You can't see it but I am banging my head against my desk.

I think Jesus might listen but to talk to Jesus I think you have to be dead or have at least a 1300 SAT.
        • I talk to Jesus often, through the Holy Spirit.

I did have at least a 1300 SAT, though I am not sure of the relevance.
          • So you talk to Jesus through proxy! Ah ha! He says he talks directly to Jesus.

Look don't get me wrong. I'm a real Do What Thou Wilt kinda guy. I know what the FF were thinking when they wrote about gov't not making a State Church and I know it wasn't Freedom FROM Religion. In fact, I skip Jesus entirely and have a really great relationship with God. No proxies, no churches, no middle men at all. Just me & God.

However, in public office, I wouldn't be basing decisions on my talks with Him. And i

The difference is entirely semantic; there's no actual difference.

However, in public office, I wouldn't be basing decisions on my talks with Him. And if I were I certainly wouldn't tell anyone about it.

But many of our previous Presidents did, and said so. It doesn't bother me.

There are some who believe in Jesus who are pushing their Agendas too hard for my taste.

Yes, I call them liberal Democrats: people like Al Sharpto
              • I guess I'm special. I can have family and friends, business and pleasure, God and country and I can compartmentalize them all, mixing them only as needed.

If this is a hard concept, imagine, if you will, a transparent squid proxy to God. :-) Just talk, and it gets there.

I'd like him to cut this crap out and figure out a way to keep jobs in America, yadda yadda.

You propose a dichotomy that cannot exist. Bush, like most people, cannot separate their religion from the rest of their lives. I know I can't.

              • All our greatest Presidents were strong believers in, and followers, of Jesus.

Except for that one guy who was a died-in-the-goat's-blood satan worshiper, but at least he had conviction..
